Challenge: Finding the Right Direct Mail Partner

Mizzen+Main makes stunning, classic menswear, including “the best damn dress shirt,” and the team is packed with incredible operators who have pushed the brand to consistently strong annual growth.

Natalie told us, “We love OuterSignal. We started using audiences OuterSignal built for Meta 6 months ago, and we saw great results there—in fact, it was our top target audience on Meta over BFCM. So, we knew the combination with PostPilot would be great, too. A lot of our customer base is C-suite or executive-level, so [with PostPilot and OuterSignal] we targeted that group first. The ROAS is insane on it, and it’s $50 higher than our typical AOV.”

Rapid Catalog Launches

By switching their catalog program to PostPilot, Mizzen+Main cut their lead time from 6 months to 6 weeks

Other Direct Mail Tactics

Driving In-Store Sales

“We were struggling with retail traffic, so we wanted to run targeted postcard campaigns to any past buyer who lived within around 50 miles of a store and hadn’t previously purchased in-store. The campaigns worked out really great.” —Natalie

“Jané, our account manager, has been really great—super thoughtful and thorough with strategies. We used ChatGPT to get zip codes and store addresses within a 50-mile radius, and then we passed the results to Jané, and she uploaded them all into separate campaigns.” 

Automatically Winning Back Unsubscribed Customers

One of direct mail’s many superpowers is reaching customers unengaged with or unsubscribed from email/SMS.

Whether they’ve tuned out or dropped out, they’re missing out.

After validating the RF (recency and frequency) segments to target with holdout testing, they’ve automated postcards to be sent to unsubscribed customers at the 150-day mark—with this design, a variant of the one featured earlier.
