Small group rule

Fewer than 25 people in a park, with no tables, structures or sound. Any table in a park, including one for a coat drive, needs a permit.

Local caveats and sources

Rec & Park group projects can take up to 5 weeks to set up (the sign-up date uses that). Presidio, Crissy Field and Ocean Beach are federal land. Advertising an event before its permit is confirmed can get you suspended for a year.
